Blossoms, Blossom, Everywhere
One of my favorite products from Making Memories are the blossoms. I just love them so much and am always looking for excuses to put them onto my layouts and cards. Both felt and paper blossoms make me so happy, and I love how there are so many different colors and patterns to choose from. The colors are fun and fresh, and they coordinate with several lines of patterned paper. Best of all, there are so many included in one box of blossoms, I know that one box can go a long way.
For my layout, I decided to try making a background of blossoms. I used a chipboard heart to serve as my base, and using glue dots I individually adhered blossoms all over the heart. I decided to mix both felt and paper blossoms for texture, and used several patterns and colors to add interest to my page. I ensured that every square inch of the heart was covered, being careful to maintain the shape of the heart along the edges. I added buttons to serve as the centers of my flowers, and completed the look by embellishing with photos, a journaling tag, some ribbon and a hand cut title.
After completing this page, I still had several buttons and flowers left over for other projects so I decided to try this technique on cards. For one card, I painted chipboard hearts with paint and adhered matching buttons to the tops. On the other, I adhered blossoms on a card in the shape of a heart to mimic the look I have on my layout. The result is a colorful greeting for someone special.
What different ways can you think of to use Making Memories blossoms and buttons? Be sure to share your projects by posting a link to your blog. Have fun.
Sewing Challenge - Week One
This month Joscelyn from Honolulu, Hawaii (lucky girl!!!) is going give us some tips and tricks for sewing on pages. Each Thursday in July, she is going to give us some tips and tricks for using sewing on pages. Sewing isn't a new technique, but a great one if you have not already given it a try. So let's give it up for Joscelyn.
To make sewing on pages easier, I enjoy following lines within my project because it is harder to mess up. In my example today, I have sewn around Making Memories die-cut papers. Before you start sewing, make sure to adhere your die-cut paper to a piece of cardstock. Also adhere a photo on your page.
The first step is to grab your paper piercing tool. It’s always easiest if you poke the holes on your page first because it’s easier to make the holes even and it allows you to follow the pattern you make. If you want you can use a pencil first to make the small dots before you actually poke the hole. Poke the holes around the die-cut paper and the photo.
After you have pokes your holes, it’s time to start sewing. Thread your needle with embroidery floss and loop the thread in and out of each hole. Tip, it might be helpful to use a thimble so you don’t poke your finger.
After you have gone around the entire page, you will repeat this step so you can fill in the empty spaces with thread. It’s helpful to sew around the die-cut paper before you start sewing around your photo so you only have to change your thread once.
The last step is the easiest - embellish!
I used the following items Making Memories products on this project.
Your challenge for this week is to try sewing on your pages. Start by sewing around a piece of die-cut paper or a photo. Come back next week to learn more.

Inspiration from Joey
There are many ways to obtain inspiration. Sometimes, something so fabulous or unexpected or beautiful just hits us hard and inspires us. Other times, regardless of how many times we see something, we suddenly really
Labels. They come in all shapes and forms and provide all manner of information. They show us what ingredients are in our breakfast cereal, or caution us about fumes and open flame at the gas pump. They even let us know what is to be expected about the contents of our box during shipping.
I like the look of these little providers of information as well as the way the label verbiage reads and so created my own labels for my title and sub-titles. Using the new Making Memories' felt alphas and mini shimmer alphas is a great way to make an impact. The biggest tip I can give for making sure alphabet stickers are straight and stay straight when adhered - is to use a ruler. Put the letters along the edge of the ruler, sticking just enough on to easily arrange and move as needed. Then, when you are satisfied with the spacing, lay the ruler flat and stick all the letters down at once. The overall look is very clean and easy to read.
Try looking at the labels around you a little different next time. Look for inspiration.
I used Making Memories' Passport Collection for these layouts. Check out Making Memories' website for more information about this collection.
